Hi,
It’s been 1.5 years since my vasectomy and the same amount of time since my wedding.
In recent weeks, my wife (26 years old) became pregnant. I discovered this by accident; I thought that perhaps I had experienced recanalization.
I told her about it and said I’d like to get a semen analysis to see what’s going on.
However, my wife admitted that I don’t need to spend money on the test because this pregnancy is the result of her affair with her ex-boyfriend.
The pregnancy is over now; I was never supposed to find out about it.
Thanks to my wife’s honesty, I saved money on an unnecessary semen analysis.
Edit:
Thank you all so much for your words of support.
Divorce: As far as a possible divorce is concerned, I’m in a good position. We don’t have children and we won’t have any. We also don’t have any joint property, and we established separate property rights before we got married. So a divorce would be a formality, not a lengthy process.
Her reaction to the situation: Now that it’s come out, she’s admitted it. She let me check her phone and told me how it all went down. He was her first boyfriend, whom she’d known since childhood. She only wanted sex from him, and that’s what their messages showed. He turned her down repeatedly, but she kept pushing for dates. It lasted two months, involving a dozen or so meetings and sexual intercourse on several occasions.
She doesn’t want a divorce. But if it came down to it, she’d take the blame, and she voluntarily gave me the evidence of her infidelity herself. She agreed to cut off contact with him and texted him to that effect. She wants to go to therapy because of what she did and how she’s behaving. After this affair, our sex life has improved a lot, though I suspect it’s out of guilt, I’m not sure. Overall, she’s willing to agree to practically anything to avoid a divorce.
I’m not 100% sure yet what I’m going to do about this. It’s still too fresh. But for now, it seems to me that it will end in divorce, but calmly, once the emotions have subsided. Although I appreciate her change and her efforts, it’s just hard to judge that in such a short time.
In any case, it’s safe to say that the vasectomy has proven its effectiveness in this situation.

- It protected me from a child that wasn’t mine (she could have continued lying that it was mine and carried on with the pregnancy).
- A pregnancy right now, while I’m considering divorce, would be a disaster.
