And pretty substantial amounts if you just want to spend the rest of your time with your partner in the mountains.

not really, you could just become a forest worker and live in a cabin, also you can just move to a nature area close by a city and do a longer daily commute for work. And usually its cheap as fuck to move into cabins because everyone is moving into cities. And work wont be hard to find either as there is a shortage of worker aged people in those areas, so you can literally just pick and choose.
only problem would be longevity as there will be lots of people moving away in the future.

ic ic, the only real option would be to travel to sum place in siberia or north-north america and live off the land (if you dont wanna get raped by amazonian snakes ofc) but that doesnt really feel realistic yk?

but tbf there are people in that one series "alone" who proved it can be possible, the only real need is to just be more than a single person, so you, a wife and children could easily survive.

the dream would ofc be to get your friends with you to create some lil village of sorts, but not many would choose the lifestyle
