I used to be in discord "pack" communities where arguments were solely based on appeal to popularity or trolling the person to a point of no return

I learned that you don't have to be factually right if you were able to humiliate or piss off the other person enough

exactly JFL, I remember using a statistic to prove something in a VC argument with loud mics and when there was silence after I finished the other guy just said "bro nerdy as shit" then played a soundboard laugh and it was WRAPS for me

The other 8 people in the VC didn't give a shit wether or not I was right I got clowned on and therefore lost

Yes it has happened to me a few times. Nerd is one of the most widely used and most functional epithets since it discredits the social status of the "victim" and also his or her abilities (if you are nerdy it means also that you waste your time searching for information)

They will call you nerdy or say you "get no pussy" both of which discredit social status, to them if they lost an online argument it means nothing, if you don't have any status symbols in real life they know they are the true winners cause at the end of the day once we close our computers we step into reality
