One of my friends said the panoxyl benzoyl peroxide cleanser made their skin whiter, should I try it?

I have benzoyl peroxide in a cleanser I use, but I can't tell if it makes you whiter because I'm already am.

i use it for pimples its pretty good but it dries the fk out of your skin so dont advice, just place a small amount on a pimple
