Is to ask which surgeons other surgeons look up too. Usually there are certain groups and nominations etc, just look who is looked upon in the field.

Dont fall for forum hype, even though some of it is relevant . Good surgeons are famous among the surgery community and other surgeons. Thats whats really matters.

Also no surgery is precise within 1-2 mm, those millimeter matters but are totally unpredictable. Depending on the surgery it can be more or less, use logic, i am no expert

You should ask how long their wait list is too. Anyone that has less then 1-2 month wait list is kinda a red flag.

You'd still have to see the okeish results and the bad, this is how you actually see if he's good or bad, for example, a surgeon done 1000 cases, out of the 1000 cases only 50 are good on his page, does that mean he's good?, see my point?

Also this wasn't meant for the "forum famous" surgeons but for the surgeons who aren't known on media.

I find that surgeons who make informative detailed videos, have decent on table and post op results and respond to qeustions on Instagram despite no one ever engaging with the content are some of the coolest

what makes a surgeon skilled in terms of BSSO don't they all have a standard cut, is the room for improvement for a surgeon just planning if the pateince needs xyz like ccw or cw isn't it easy to tell from a scan

Lol easy ? Its not that easy, if you want to look better its hard. Moving far forward makes it hard as hell. Because the force of the muscle makes it hard to operate. Because it pulls back in real time. You need to think about the position of the condyles and rhe movement of the ramus to place those right meanwhile you need to push back against the muscle and at the same time follow a plan meanwhile you need to be aware of nerves, arteries and other soft tissue related stuff. Its far from easy. Doing a big movement makes some kind of error kinda common, tmjd, intra alveolar nerve damage, none union, etc. Bimax isnt easy if you want a big change.
