What makes a good jaw, it’s not projection or ramus it’s having a clear lower third outline from the front where the submental neck area is not visible, why do people lack this. Short chin…
look at Gosling, by Mike Jew standards his facial growth is shit, downswung, long midface, giga short ramus. Yet he looks good, why?
because Goslings chin is so tall it literally dips below his hyoid so from the front you see a clearly defined jaw and parallel jaw and eye to nose angle. You can’t see his neck tissue his jaw is separate and clearly defined. Not because he has a wide hyper defined mandibular body and ramus or that his jaw is forward grown , but because his chin is so tall it hides everything behind it and makes the jaw body appear longer from ramus to chin and separate from the neck
When the chin is high up the submental angle of the neck and jaw becomes too obtuse causing the neck to be seen from the front and the jaw to blend in
See how by lengthening the chin the submental angle approaches 90 degrees , this is appreciated just as much from the front as side , now from the front he doesn’t have that blended turkey neck , his jaw is clearly outlined and separate from the neck
Now if you have a forward grown ante face the jaw in itself is far away from the neck so the chin doesn’t need to be tall, but my point is a tall chin creates the illusion of forward growth and this is how it does it. So a sliding open wedge genioplasty is worth looking into.
the actress is much more forward grown , her jaws are way ahead of her nasion whereas goslings are behind but he still looks good cause of his disproportionately tall chin, oh yah and also a tall chin is highly dimorphic. This theory doesn’t work on women, they need forward growth.
This is also why neck beards are a failo. Because they make the jaw blend in to the neck, If u have one line your beard high up so that from the front no beard can be seen behind the jawline
The surgery is a sliding open wedge genioplasty or “vertical genioplasty”
