I recently got Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge.

I found that after getting some matches and texting, I feel a bit less lonely and consequently find it easier to avoid porn and heavy depression.
It's definitely not a full replacement for irl social life, but if you are trying to work your way into a better social life, I think this can be a moderate fix for loneliness.

Also gives you potential friends and gf / bf.
Obviously, you have to get matches, and if you don't, you might feel worse about yourself, and it could have the opposite effect.

Maybe if you're not able to match, catfishing could allow you to feel the same feelings - probably not without downsides, but maybe the pros outweigh the cons.

Also, jerking off to girls on dating apps has been a useful way to avoid porn addiction. I would guess it's less mentally damaging too, since the girls are actually real normal people that you may even be texting.

Thoughts?

You're never going to make friends on a dating app, the closest thing to that will be you go on a date with a girl and then she'll friendzone you after, but obviously that doesn't count and isn't a real friendship. And if you are good looking enough to get matches then you're good looking enough to go out in public and meet people.

It's a thing to include in your social life,

but it could be a slippery slope where you only rely on online validation and never end up leveling up your actual social skills.

The last part is true; it's better than porn, but still mentally damaging.

agree, but those who dont have photos to add to their profile/dont have good photos may suffer more. maybe it will push them to get better to the point where they can get matches. or makes them rot even more. double-edged sword tbh

If you live in an isolated area it can be dificult.
