Making this thread while listening to King Without a Crown by Matisyahu.
Everyone knows deep down there is no man in the sky watching everything we do, but the universal coping is what gives meaning to suffering and holds everyone together.
Take away religion and everything goes to the shitter. I used to think religion coping was about victim morality (it kinda is) but there’s no one who’s never gone through trauma in life.
If you’re open about your non-beliefs you’re either “evil” (indifferent) or socially stunted.
TLDR learn to cope, for you and for the people you care about
