duh its not the same. but if you can still expand your palate with constant force using a palate expander, you can probably do it with your thumbs. now is it smart or as safe? ... i'm sure results will vary depending on who tries it. its a diy method if you're a poorcel and much easier to not apply equal pressure to both sides

No amount of thumb pulling would be equal to a palatal expander. You can't thumb pull for 24/7 with maximum force
