Yea, i feel like some people just use it as an excuse to look like a good person cause of the good moral.

Yeah, everyone has their own angles as to why they are religious, some are afraid of death, others want community, or want to feel like they are loved by someone (like a deity)

Yea that too. people use the excuse that he gives free will but wouldnt that contradict "gods plan"

I think the main reason we came up with religion because we can't cope with what happens after death. I tried sitting for 30 mins trying to understand the concept of death and there's no way around it. All of the other benefits of community and being a good person are auxiliary to the main problem of death.

I think so as well, also we see in history that empires were ran by religious leaders. thats most likely why its so popular today
