been reading up on parathyroid hormone analogs and was wondering if any dons ever looked into their potential for craniofacial enhancement (zygos, orbital rims, mandible density etc)
quick rundown:
– what are pth analogs?
synthetic versions of parathyroid hormone normally pth regulates calcium + bone turnover
BUT if dosed intermittently (e.g. daily injection), it becomes anabolic = builds bone
– main analogs:
teriparatide = PTH 1-34 fragment (highly anabolic)
abaloparatide = similar to teri, possibly less sides
PTH 1-84 = full-length hormone, used less
– how it works:
binds to PTH1 receptors on osteoblasts (bone builders)
activates cAMP/PKA pathway → leads to:
more osteoblasts
longer survival
more bone matrix laid down
only works anabolically if used intermittently
chronic high PTH = bone loss
controlled spikes = bone gain
most research is on spine/hip, but theoretically could improve density/thickness of facial bones over long-term usage
maybe potential for minor orbital/zygo/maxilla gains via remodeling?
anyone ever looked into this angle seriously or know if anyone’s tried? not suggesting it’s a miracle fix but wondering about potential for density-based mog enhancement over time
