Ortho at 15

I have a normal maxilla, not recessed but not model projected, but I have overjet because my lower teeth are inclined inwards and the upper teeth the opposite, also my mandible is not recessed but i want mandible and chin projection, also my lowerlip is not very visible because of the overjet, i got quoted super cheap for invasilign at a nice clinic in my country, Ive heard normal braces can cause recession, so i think invasilign will be nice, and for mandible projection I need to ask my ortho for something, im thinking about a Herbst apliance, what do yall think? ik my maxilla is not ideal, is not bad tho, and ik my infras are cooked, but once i turn 18 ill get lefort 1 and infraorbital implants, but I wanted to fix the mandible during puberty to avoid Djs

An ortho will most likely not give you herbst, the reason for that is that you already have good mandibular projection, i have a similar problem as you, its most likely not your lower jaw that is unprojected or retruded but rather your upper jaw or more specific your teeth that are overprojected. U described your bite as having an overjet with proclined teeth and your lower teeth are retroclined, since you have an overjet, your teeth give an illusion of mandibular recession because the teeth bring the upper lip more forward. What an orthodontist would most likely do is bring your upper teeth backward and your lower teeth forward to fix the lip imbalance, which will make the appearance of more mandibular projection

ikik but i dont ena that, for me it doesnt make sense bring the upper teeth back, because it will give me a bit less projection, for me what i would want is the ortho to bring my lower teeth forward, not move the upper teeth position, and fix the inclination on both upper and lower teeth, i dont want to give up on forward growth to have a balanced face when i can get a balanced face with pushing the lower teeth and mandible just a bit forward, lets see what the ortho says, thx for the high effort reply

ikik but i dont ena that, for me it doesnt make sense bring the upper teeth back, because it will give me a bit less projection, for me what i would want is the ortho to bring my lower teeth forward, not move the upper teeth position, and fix the inclination on both upper and lower teeth, i dont want to give up on forward growth to have a balanced face when i can get a balanced face with pushing the lower teeth and mandible just a bit forward, lets see what the ortho says, thx for the high effort reply

Have you ever heard of camouflage orthodntics? Thats where a recessed skeletal base is hidden by the correction of a bite. That proves that orthodontics (insofar as it isnt extraction) isnt having an visible effect on the bones, or atleast it will be so mild that nobody of your closest people will notice, if an ortho retracts your upper teeth, then that will not retrude your skeletal base, because your base was not bad to begin with, however your teeth were, bad teeth only change soft tissue not bones, so even if this was to be treated, it most likely wouldnt have an effect on your bones, but on your teeth which affect soft tissue. Anyways this should be talked about with an ortho since im not a professional, and ur welcome for the high effort reply, im stressing abt ts too since i have a kinda similar bite
