After being told id be a bimax candidate I went to an Ortho he said i am perfectly fine and have very good teeth with great potential.

He said I have a class 1 bite (normal bite) that can be perfected with braces to move top teeth abit back and bottom teeth straight and forward.

He also said at a skeletal level I am fine, is he correct or should I push for maxillo facialist referral.
(he said if he refered he would let him know he doesnt think I need anything.)

I dont know what to do, I feel facially and skeletal level i look ultra recessed, but my teeth arent terrible so i dont want to pay €300+ for a referral to a maxillofacial surgeon, just for them to say I am not eligible to be covered for bimax.

Some orthos don't think about cosmetic issues. Only medical issues.

I told him i get jaw pain from chewing tough foods, muscle strain, jut just to be able to breathe better, and how i was more worried about the pain which comes from strictural issue and dude still suggested just braces, and said i have a class 1 occlusion, when i heard that i knew smt wasnt right, i even tried saying im afraid snoring and mouth reathing in my sleep will cause more cavities leading to more dental issues.

Change ortho. But you need to understand what makes doctors tick. Because an Orthodontist is a doctor. They are massively afraid of people reporting them to their governing body. I don't know what country you are in, but usually one bad report could end their career.

So if you are low inhib enough, get confrontational with them when they don't do what you want and threaten to report them. I've gotten many things out of Doctors just by threatening to report them

Also do your research into the Orthodontists. Don't just RANDOMLY show up to a dental surgery and get assigned the next available Ortho. Say I want to book an appointment with "Dr xyz". Most surgeries will list the Orthos working for them and then you can do background checks into them. Look at the google reviews of the surgery. Do people praise/complain about a certain ortho. Type the orthos name on reddit, see any reviews, etc. Find the orthos facebook/twitter account, see what type of person they are and judge whether they will be agreeable or not

I am in Ireland, so getting Bimax covered and stuff is not very common, let alone people paying to get it done, All of the orthos can refer u to all the Maxillofacial surgeons from what I gather, so i believe the main bit is to get an ortho that acknowledges the skeletal recession so I can be properly referred to a Macillofacial surgeons with a strong reference, so they can then fully assess me and decide.

The last one that i consulted finally made me do a scan after i insisted and after seeing it he recognized that i was recessed, the gap between my maxilla and my mandible is not huge but I have an overall recession of both and downward growth. I will get a trimax with ccw rotation in a few months.

Go see a maxillo surgeon directly and insist to get a scan, orthos will do nothing for your case.
