Title. At the consultation with my maxfac, she told me I most likely only need a Lefort 1 and that my lower jaw is in a good position. My surgeon recommended me an ortho that she had produced good results with. After the scans, the ortho told me she wants to set my lower jaw back a bit. Brought the scans and everything back to the surgeon, and she said that she would rather not touch my lower jaw at all and just move the maxilla.

So who the fuck decides at the end of the day? I don't want to set back my lower jaw, it looks really good already. And the surgeon agrees, I think she even told me I can deny DJS and go for a lefort 1 only. Can I really though? What if the ortho somehow plans my decomp phase so later DJS is the only option and I can't get lefort 1 alone?

The surgeon is one of the best maxfacs here and told me that the ortho is good and knows what she is doing in terms of decomp, but that I only need a lefort 1 and I can deny the DJS.

The maxfac also told me that the surgery will be a lot cheaper if I only went for lefort 1.

The total period of braces I have to wear will cost me 6k and lefort 1 would be 6k too. And I have fucking 2-3 years to pay everything, this is pretty much perfect.

Who’s doing the surgery ?
Ur ortho clearly shit when u said the surgeon said not to do extractions

Tyler, I talked to you once already, you clearly don't know shit.
I do ur just rushing to get surgery when realistically u need another ortho consult

I've called up at least 5 clinics, they all have 1-2 year wait lists.

The surgeon herself recommended me that ortho btw.

Yeah it’s over u not considered travelling
Why would I need to lol when there are plenty of decent surgeons here who have good results. I'm not gonna get a lefort 1 for 20k in italy when I could get it for 6k here by a skilled surgeon.

Dont do it lol. Just tell her u want to do jaw surgery with no mandibular set back. It’s only gonna cause issues

It’s not even the surgeon it’s the ortho imo if u see his teeth it doesn’t make sense

My surgeon told me I can refuse DJS and do only lefort 1 which I also only want.

Is it my decision at the end of the day though? As much as I understand, decomp just puts your teeth back into ur natural position, so you can either get lefort 1 or djs.

But yes, I'm not gonna let anyone set my lower jaw back 100%. I'm just worried that maybe they'll tell me that "oh I decomped in a way that only DJS is possible".

Yes, my teeth are straight and premolars are usually extracted for people with crowding. But my ortho explained to me that my upper incisors are flared quite a bit, so there is just physically no room for decompensation. I showed my scans to another high iq user here and he agreed. I think she even showed me a result of one of her patients who got extractions for jaw surgery and she ended up looking good post-op.

Though yes, I would love to not extract my teeth, but I might just have no other choice.

No pics and no scans so how the fuck would i know.

dont listen to niggas telling never to do setbacks. Every case is different. In many class 3 cases setback is needed for the best aesthetics results. It's case dependent. You need to look at your side and decide how you want it to look like.

Not true unless the class 3 is extremely severe u would not benefit from a setback

Average SNB is 78-82 degrees, mine is 84. That means that my lower jaw is just forward grown, prognathic area is the SNB 86-88 range and more.

Surgeon also told me she would rather not touch my lower jaw and that its good.
