Yesterday I got an orthodontic appliance to expand my upper palate and move my teeth in order to treat a unilateral crossbite. My orthodontist also told me that in six months, if I want to, it will be possible to expand my lower jaw as well. I am missing two lower teeth (the premolars/“5s”), one on each side of the lower jaw. Will expanding the lower jaw in six months be necessary, or would it not really give me any benefit?
