Hello to everyone reading, I consulted with an orthodontist's office in town yesterday and I was interested in a mandible appliance (such as a Herbst, or a MARA), but they did an x-ray of my skull and pointed out that my mandible was nearing the end of it's growth (pretty much done). I am 16 years and 8 months old. The only options I know of, are the ones below.
  1. Traditional braces
  2. Damon braces
  3. Invisalign
The thing is, they told my mom that we could do a genioplasty after my braces are done. To which my mom reacted with a very firm no and that it was "over the top", I later guilt tripped in her in the car saying that since my lower jaw is done growing, the genioplasty after the braces would fix my insecurity, make me better looking, and that the surgery itself isn't too invasive at all. My mother's reaction was on the fence, but she said we can do it if you REALLY want to when you're finished with treatment.

I just don't know what to do, let me know what I should ask, say, etc. At my next ortho consult.
