They can't just stick one in your mouth and start expanding your palate, they need to plan for your specific case, install it, do checkups, etc, $2k to get a palate expander doesn't sound bad at all, but I'd assume it's more than double that price in reality.

They don't do no plan for "specific cases". They just take an impression and thats it, you too can easily make a customized one at home if you want to, this much money for a simple device like this can never be justified
