Is Orthognactic surgery worth it? I recently had an appointment with my dentist and she recommended I get Orthognathic surgery (jaw surgery) witch they would slightly push back my jaw (making me more recessed) witch would improve my palate and symmetry. Im not too sure I the specifics on what would be operated on but if anyone has had the surgery before or knows about please let me know if it would positively/negatively improve them

Do not let them push back either jaw if possible you want as much expansion as possible

Mandibular setback is usually very poor result aesthetically (and airway wise) unless you have a giga underbite and your jaw is crocodile level forward growth.

Get more opinions asap.

I believe it’s my upper jaw as I have a slight over bite I don’t have much knowledge on the procedure yet (I will get a consultation within the week) but they said I was prone to sleep apnea if you know any Orthognactic surgery that help with sleep apnea lmk because I believe that’s what I would be getting
