I got a otoplasty done 1,5 months ago and the results are disappointing. I feel like my left ear is alright but my right one is still sticking out so much
Originally I wanted to do more surgeries, but now that i got the lowest risk surgery done and it still turned out bad I`m rethinking it a little.
Should i ask for a revision surgery that could potentially be free or go to a different doctor? Pls lmk.

thanks, but the surgeon himself said that the right ear is still sticking out too much. If he gives me a revision for free i will definitely do the surgery again.

The relapse rate with otoplasty can be high. Also, the ears have a tendency to slightly return to their original position. That is why surgeons will overcorrect.

There is a chance that your surgeon simply does not have a good technique. I would not advise going to your generic local plastic surgeon who happens to do otoplasty for this reason.

A revision could help, but multiple relapses and multiple corrections will only add to scar tissue. The best advice I can give you is to save your money and go to an otoplasty expert. In Turkey you can get a good result for less than 3k. Do your own research.

I can't foresee a scenario where Teno's revision is free. I assume otoplasty is general anesthetic, like all ostotomies are. Even if the surgeon admits he fucked up or is just very generous to do the revision without fee, who's going to pay for the anesthetist's time?

Yea a revision won´t be completely free, but it will definitely be a lot cheaper then the first time. That´s usually how it goes, right?

I always thought otoplasty was a relatively easy procedure to perform, so I just chose someone in my country.

how long post op are you, how are you feeling?
