Pain had a talk with me at sunrise.
He said to me, “I will sooner end my own life than leave you.” I was both perplexed and somewhat startled at this remark. The very Being that has plagued me from day one has vowed to linger beside me until my very last day.
“They all may leave you. They all may forsake you. They all may think they know you. But, I will never leave you. I will never forsake you. And I know you. I know you.”
We poured another ice pick of faminepulse and betokened regrets. The conversation died and our ice jingling at the bottom of our glasses seemed to be the only sound in vicinity.
“You’ll be there in my last moments. For that, I thank you.”
We clanked our glasses together and called it a night.
