wouldnt recommend during puberty since palatal sulture hardens around puberty might be less effective also may cause tooth movements or uneven bite, recommend surgically assisted expansion for best results

that only happens from a rapid expander a non rapid expander wont cause assymetries and a doctor can fix palate assymetries byadjusting the expander so it pushes more from one side

only risk for expander wpuld be getting a gap but that will be fixed by the braces
