is there any way of finding out if I need a pallet extender myself or do u have to ask my dentist/orthodontist? and does it actually significantly affect someone's face and can I get it if I don't necessarily need it

Ask a orthodontist that would be optimal and Self check your nose breathing (if you got nose breathing problems its more likely for you to get a prescribed palate expander)

Like if your nasal airways get blocked a palate expander can help that too. Thats the way one of my friends got a prescribed expander. Theres surely other reasons to get it prescribed too
