Pancreatic cancer rates are rising among Americans, with the sharpest increases in younger women, a new study finds.

The new nationwide analysis of nearly two decades of data revealed that rates in women below 55 rose 2.4% more than in their male counterparts. Young Black women, in particular, saw their rates increase 2.23% more than those in Black men the same age, researchers reported in Gastroenterology.
Pancreatic cancer rates are rising fastest in younger women, new research has shown, amid concern that unhealthy lifestyles may be to blame.
Drinking, smoking and eating too much junk food could be behind the phenomenon, according to scientists.

My great aunt died of pancreas cancer. She was 73 when she passed. She lost lots of weight and was on morphine to cope with the pain. My mom's friend is battling pancreas cancer right now.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss and I hope your mum's friend manages to get well fast and beat cancer.
I had an uncle on my mother's side who died of pancreatic cancer. He was already at stage 4 upon diagnosis.
It's a tough cancer to diagnose in its early stages; I hope your mum's friend got diagnosed at stage 1 so she can get rid of it sooner and faster.

Thanks.

From what I understand of her friend, it has spread pretty far, but she's hanging in there.

You're very welcome.

Pancreatic cancer is one of those cancers where it's hard to detect in its early stages. Something needs to be done about it to address the problem.

Hopefully, the next "big thing" manages to make a breakthrough within the next ten years which could one day save plenty of lives cut short by a late-stage diagnosis because of poor early-stage detection.
