Paradox games are overrated bullshit tbh. I use to play them until I realized that they are actually nowhere near as deep as they look on the surface despite all the busy looking interfaces and that most games will play out exactly the same. Their games are also full of annoying game mechanics.

Yeah, they are not deep at all, just look like that on a surface, when i showed them to my normie friends they thought i was mad and it wasn't even a game but a excel sheet, i just lol inside because they don't even get how normie the games are on the inside once you learn them after few weeks. They are addicting as hell. You play hoi4 by the looks of it, eu4 every game is different

The problem is that while these games look complex on the surface there is actually very little depth. Most of your time will be spent fast forwarding and responding to pop-ups. It's actually extremely boring.

In addition, because these games are almost entirely stats based there is often no actual way to get anywhere as a smaller nation unless you use some gimmicky bullshit hack or exploit the game mechanics to break the game somehow. If you start playing as some small shitty country and intend to play legit without using exploits then there is almost nothing you can do to do actually become powerful. The games are actually very deterministic. You can argue this is realistic, but it's also very boring.

I also hate how their games are filled with artificial and annoying game mechanics that make no fucking sense. A flawless example of this is the whole bullshit concept of victory points where you are forced to reconquer the same country over and over because you are only allowed to take small bits of it after each war. This is extremely unrealistic and also makes wars often feel tedious and unfun. Actually warfare in paradox games is utter shit in general since it's just risk like bullshit with no strategy.

My fav though is Victoria 2 which pretends to be an economy simulator yet nothing about the game economy makes any sense since basic economic laws like supply and demand don't actually exist and instead goods are first sold to nations based on their "prestige" and where no stockpiles exist of anything because anything that doesn't instantly sell is just thrown away for some reason lmao. Like, you can literally be the richest country in the world but if some other shitty country has more "prestige" than you then they get first dips on everything lol what a fucking joke of a game.
