(This is my first post so if it sucks just tell me)

I have had severe acne for about 2-3 years now and I am about to turn 17 in 2 months. It has affected my life in a very negative way every day since then. I have had so many brutal moments that have made me so insecure and it just feels like nothing ever gets better.

I have done a lot of research and looked at many videos or threads on how to achieve clear skin. I am no expert at it ofc, but I know more than the average person for sure. In about 95% of every tutorial I have ever seen on how to clear my skin up, accutane is always the main factor in it. (The other 5% is just cope products or things they are trying to sell). And this is just from what I have seen so far, there may be a gold thread out there that doesn’t involve accutane but damn so far its not looking good with that.

After all that research, I kept asking my parents to let me get accutane and try it because nothing before has ever worked. Before, I was using benzoyl peroxide 5% and then went to 10%, as well as tret 0.05% then worked my way up to 0.1%, I also used clindamycin. After all those years, nothing has ever happened and it just kept staying severe. Of course they said no because of the side effects. At this point I do not care about any side effects and I know so many people that have done it so why even care if it just works.

All im left with now is to just cope and say its just puberty and do nothing more to try and get rid of it, im so tired of it affecting my life for the worst and having to live everyday with a disgusting face and back. When I first got on all the different products that would “help” my skin get better, I genuinely couldn’t open my mouth to eat food or talk, it was terrible. It is a little better now but still hurts a little (yes this has been going on for years).

All acne has done is just made me an insecure person. I have trouble looking at people in the eyes when they talk to me because when I used to talk to people in school, all I would see was them just staring at my acne and imperfections in general. It has always made me have a terrible first impression on people and changes so many things that I didn’t expect it to change.

Friends, teachers, and even people I have never spoken to in my life have made a negative comment on it and I feel like I can never make any one happy or please people because its just so bad. I know im not overthinking it because it happens atleast 2-3 times a week (I cant count how many times I have been picked on but I do remember the more harsh ones like it was yesterday).

Finally, if anyone has any knowledge they would like to share with me on how to improve my skin, I would love if you could. I know this was a long thread so the dnr gifs are understandable. If anyone has been in this same situation before and you have a specific routine, please share it with me.

Dont let anyone in life dictate your actions and your life, find a way by any means Indiamart a large accutane package to a friends house and go take it there.

It's okay g, acne is temporary. Go to a dermatologist and beg them for accutane if that doesn't work just switch derma's until one gives you. Or just buy from indiamart.

ur lowkey a mogger
few points
- Your threads good but formatting is not. I would change coloring, add spoilers, and make the text bigger.
- You don’t need your parents for accutane.

I was talking with my friend to let him buy it for me and I pay him back and do that exact thing. Thanks

You'll look great without acne man. ive been on 40mg/day for almost a year now and its not bad. try doing anything you can do get your hands on accutane, hit up a ton of derms and one of them will let you hop on without any further bs (antibiotics arent gonna do shit for you almost certainly). i had the same kind of treatment-resistant acne and the only thing that actually helped was accutane, its your only option really. use epiduo in the meantime to minimize the risk of scarring. you can show your parents studies on how acne and acne scars affect perception etc. if theyre rational people.

Thanks this is really helpful but yea when I tell them abt how it affects me and perception, they just ignore it and talk about the side effects. My mom is a health coach/nutritionist so she thinks it’s terrible which makes it even harder to explain.

hmm yeah moms like that can be a little hard to crack, but you HAVE to figure it out somehow. tell her that its all reversible and that the standard procedure is to do blood work every month, therefore IF you get any of the rarer side effects you can just stop and it'll all be fine.
