if you can't intuitively tell religions are a man-made concept from the way they're formulated and constructed, no appeal to logic of any kind is gonna change your mind

that being said, reductionist cringelords like sam harris are just as dumb with their refusal or inability to rewind the neurological history of humanity and realize it was an evolutionary step just as natural and inevitable as reaching 3 ft at some point during growing from a baby to an adult

the more our collective consciousness (loosely speaking) drifts apart from religious dogmas and moral rules formulated ages ago, in completely different circumstances and environment, the more its followers are forced to backpedal (since their own religions are even becoming outdated for their own taste), hence the "holy scriptures aren't to be taken literally" nonsense that makes anyone with half a brain cage hard.

the taliban, isil and al-qaeda deserve more respect in regards to their religious conviction than all those conformist muslims who cherrypick and only choose to believe in those religious rules that dont interfere with their own lifestyle

Just a reminder that Christianity is the only religion where the existence of the central figure of the dogma is considered to be unassailable historical fact at this point, and even the evidence for controversial events is quite strong.
