Being patient is a waste of time, the most valuable resource.

Pretty much every situation I can remember when I was younger, where I was told to 'be patient' ended up nowhere. I regret having patience in those scenarios as they lead to a waste of time and waiting on nothing.

Your brain is smart, it can feel when something is a waste of time and you're not getting the results you want/expect.
Being told to be patient is simply society telling you it doesn't give a single fuck about you and to fuck off.

You gotta make your own path, but never be patient.

Take or leave.

I am talking more about personal opportunity.

assessing the situation, playing it slow and safe, expecting good things to come your way 'as long as you put the work in', etc.

all that shitty ass advice is worthless. its best to go all-out and cut your losses when shit doesnt go your way asap.

I don't regret taking that opportunity. I only regret not winning.

Idk how my fellow students here can live with themselves knowing they missed out investing an interest-free 100k student loan from the government with extremely lenient payback rules.

Good example of not taking opportunities that life throws at you.

The 100k debt doesnt affect my life and never will due to those lenient payback rules. And this year alone, due to 15% inflation, that 100k basically became less than 90k in just 1 year time. 35 years later it will go to 0 by itself due to inflation. There's no debt. I won.

That’s why I’m the opposite of patient. I do not wait. Whenever I buy shit online, if it doesn’t ship the next day, I call customer service and ask why my order hasn’t shipped yet. I do not wait for anything. I overdraw my card a lot because I don’t like waiting for my next check. For me, waiting is not an option. It’s now or never

Absolutely true. If it doesn't work instantly and yield immediate results it's usually never going to work. Only exception is fitness and weight loss which simply doesn't happen fast if you have to lose a lot.

It's insane to sit around and wait for things to happen, if you are not actively working towards them, there is a massive chance they won't happen.

Life is filled with wastes of time. But you are taught to suck it up and do it anyways.

School is a very easy example. But also most people are a total waste of time (investing in friendships/relationships without return).

It's very important to separate things you do because they are productive and enhance your life in a way. And things you do only for leisure, where the goal is mainly to relax and wind-down.
Many people have these things all mixed up. They treat their jobs as if it's leisure time. Just fucking around and being paid a shitty wage. And then they treat their leisure time as work: hanging around shitty-ass people that stress them out, playing a videogame they don't even like but are seemingly addicted to (league of legends), etc.

It's a weird thing.

High IQ thread tbh

"Be patient" is probably the most boomer advice and one of the most dangerous imo
Nothing stings more like losing an opportunity or wasting time and looking back at it.

Also the fact that when you have certain desires. Say money or girls when you are younger. Boomers will just tell you to be patient. 'Oh it will come on its own when you are older'.

Legit toxic deathtier boomer advice. Worst parental generation in history.

Really depends on the situation really.

'patience is a virtue' (i think) is speaking about dealing with low iq's and their antics. You are to be patient with them because the alternative is losing your shit and being wrathful which gets you nowhere except isolated.

When it comes to life opportunities you should of course pursue them but things DO take time, especially if its something you need to learn. You need to have patience with yourself if it's something you want but you have to work for it.

My parents always told me to save money for later so that when I needed it I could use it. I was a fucking kid, I was supposed to spend all that shit but they brainwashed me into saving it because muh savings for the future.

Hits home.

I lived in complete poverty as a kid. My parents told me to save every single euro I ever got (birthdays, errands, etc.) and never spend a thing.

Ended up with the worst shittest childhood that could've been decent had I just spent it reasonably. Fuck boomers

Exactly. Patience is cope.

You get girls now, and then you get better girls when you are maxxed. It's the only way.

Hard work can be worth it, but then it needs to have a great reward.

Being a professional athlete that trains extremely hard, but gets paid really well and competes on a top level.
Owning a business and spending a shitton of time on it, but it growing into a multi-million dollar company.

If you're working hard and not seeing good results, then ur probably trapped in something useless that's never going to end up giving you what you are worth. With the exception of some rare case of luck.

Actually I think one of the best strategies in life is just to try stuff out that might give you an advantage and move on quickly if it doesn't. Like business ideas. One fails...move on try the next. Keep doing that until something works and works instantly.

But most people are worth nothing, and the best one among a thousand competitors is often more valuable than the 999 others together.
So don't be too surprised if you never get to the top, since most people don't belong to the top.

Is this related to overworking? Because the thought of procrastinating is ever-present to most.
