Peak car yo

1990s is ancient, and is ass talm about some peak modern reliability when modern bmws offer the same if not better reliability same with Audi and some Mercedes models
Old absolutely is better when it comes to cars buddy. We're not talking about so old they're ancient and impractical like a fucking model T, we're talking about 1990s-early 2010s which was the era of peak modern reliability before quality went down and the bullshit tech increased
Are you telling me cars like these don’t look appealing to you whatsoever because of some bullshit about too much technology? & a small offset in reliability (some shitty cheap cars btw)

I’m not trying to prove a point, because it’s each to their own but calling all modern cars terrible is a arrogant statement

Take these beauties for example

take the m4 f82 as a direct counterexample. This shit makes around 450 hp, hits 0 to 60 mp/h in the low 4s range, and delivers torque from basically idle thanks to the twin turbo S55. It’s faster, more efficient, and structurally stiffer than most cars from that so-called “peak reliability” era. And its interior is crisp is just a bonus that puts it leagues above most old cars

@Scandicel what’s ur thoughts about this

I have a large pickup truck that's over 10 years old. It's nothing crazy, but it is 4 wheel drive with a sensible lift kit and has over 300 horsepower. Plenty for a daily driver and is very clean because I take care of my stuff. Not giving out more details than that here
What’s the model? Dude said I’m not giving more detail than that here as if something would happen, trust me no1’s after ur ahh 😭😭

I drive a hyundai EN & ride a Kawasaki ZX-4RR for now (until I trade in for a supra nd zx-6r) they’re both amazing and I drove a old Lexus for a while I could comfortably say the Lexus was a shitbox compared to the new and refined EN
Mid 2010s is when things really started to decline with car quality and excessive tech.
Excessive tech =/= bad, car quality hasn’t dropped that’s just propaganda look at Japanese and American cars
But in the last few years it's gotten far worse.
For sure bro, but what are the examples from the performance side of cars?

You can pick up old bmws Mercedes mega cheap, problem is if something goes wrong with it you're probably gonna spend more than you spent on the car to fix it

That’s why u never buy German cars that are older than 10 years
Or in general tbh I wouldn’t want to trade performance and tech for some old rust bucket

Older German cars = fun to drive , breaks down easily

Mid year German cars = fun to drive , doesn't break down easily

Newest German cars = shitty electric soulless cars

1990s is not ancient. They had fuel injection and all the other necessary modern tech for reliability and essentially all of them came factory equipped with creature comforts like air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, and decent interiors. I've driven old carbureted machines that take more skill to get running and are less user friendly with no power steering and no power brakes. 1990s cars had all that

These are performance cars, which are in general less full of nonsense than the average daily driver sold today. Most daily drivers today are made extremely poorly with underpowered engines and many other poor design choices. Cars like these are somewhat exceptions to the rule, and are certainly not an example of what the average car is. If you're talking about the majority of vehicles which are suvs, sedans, pickup trucks, and vans then they were indeed much better in the past and quality has went down. The powertrain tech in these modern performance cars is impressive, but imo they still have too much unnecessary tech

And I'd still take a 2010s muscle car like the mustang GT, camaro SS, or challenger RT. American v8s sound the best and are the most fun in my opinion, and one day when I have the means to buy one I will.

It's irrelevant for this discussion and I don't care to post many personal details here. I'm sure you've seen many pickup trucks driving around like what I described lol
I drive a hyundai EN & ride a Kawasaki ZX-4RR for now (until I trade in for a supra nd zx-6r) they’re both amazing and I drove a old Lexus for a while I could comfortably say the Lexus was a shitbox compared to the new and refined EN
That kawasaki actually sounds pretty cool
Excessive tech =/= bad, car quality hasn’t dropped that’s just propaganda look at Japanese and American cars
Nah quality in general has went to shit. Some modern cars don't even have a fucking dipstick to check engine oil level and condition, and more and more manufacturers are doing this. Average normal car/ truck has gotten engine downsizing and has an overstressed smaller displacement engine that wears out quicker. Many components that ought to be metal are now plastic too and failing earlier. Prime example is all the manufacturers using plastic oil pans. Drain plug threads strip and then you gotta replace the whole pan, or if the plug falls out while driving your engine is toast. I even seen ford is using a BELT to drive the oil pump on the latest Gen coyote v8. Absolute insanity because that is gonna fail long before a chain or gear drive would, and when it does the enigne is done

I could go on and on but that's enough
For sure bro, but what are the examples from the performance side of cars?
Performance cars were definitely less affected by the shitty modernization because manufacturers were forced to still make them fun to drive and powerful, but there's still way too much unnecessary interior tech. Performance cars are a tiny percentage of cars produced, and in general almost all cars are made worse now. Also repair costs and ease of maintenance is going to be easier on an older performance car too, so you can either fix it yourself or take it to a local mechanic. The last thing you want is to have to depend on a dealer for repairs
