What are the advantages and disadvantages of lyophilised cartilage typically used by Sailer/Safi? Compared to PEEK.

Peek be that plastic you can 3D print and whip up some custom face implants. Ain't no allergic reactions, but it's still a foreign substance

Lyo cartilage comes from donors, it's all biological. Sailer uses it to boost them cheeks, midface, and paranasal areas. They cut it up right in the OR, and your body thinks it's its own cartilage but you can t use it for jawangles

Cool, thanks.

Doesn’t this have other risks though? Because you can’t plan/design, the doctor eyeballs and puts the stuff as he pleases. If you don’t like it, can it be removed/revised?

It s important that the doc has an eye for aesthetic. Normally u discuss in detail how you wanna look like. In case u don t like it it can be removed. They also offer other materials than peek I think they have calcium phopshate and hydroxyapatite 3d implants that is same material like bones

PEEK brutally mogs. Cartilage will resorb unpredictably
Was also thinking bout that and asked Sailer if there can be any problems.
In spots where ain't a lot of movement , like the zygoma or nose, cartilage is a good choice cause it gets fully absorbed. But not for the jaw angles. Because there is a lot of movement through the masseter muscle.
Thinking to get this into my cheek area.

Interesting, although PEEK can also cause some issues, like masseter dehiscence
