the combination youre using inevitably leads to peeling. highly abrasive to skin so this side effect is expected

You should be using moisturiser.

If you just started Tret 0.05 you shouldn’t use it every night even if the instructions say that. Work up to nightly use. Start with twice a week. On your off nights from Tret, focus on moisturizing/hydration. Up your hydration game in general. Include peptides and ceramides, humectants (like hyaluronic acid or glycerin) and occlusives like Vaseline/La Roche Posay Cicaplast. Also take it easy with cleansers/face wash, you can wash your face with only water in mornings.

What I do when I don’t use tretinoin: cleanse my face. Mix 2 drops of pure glycerin with a pump of moisturizer in my hand and apply it to still damp face. Lock it in with Vaseline and go to sleep. Works extremely well.
