For thousands of years people weren’t able to see their own face, except water, which wasn’t as clear as a mirror is, and you had to squat down.

For people that are obsessed with looks, it is a curse having to see yourself constantly. Even if you are attractive, if you look at yourself all the time it’s just mental masturbation . It’s never enough.

Amnesia taped all his mirrors in the house because he was going crazy of looking at himself all the time.

It’s making me crazy too. And I’m a LTN.

Mirrors were a bad thing.

One other thing, that is wild to think about is that stone age people never really cared how they looked like. It’s feels odd living without having a constant reference and reminder of your looks. You look at other people in your tribe and subconsciously judge their looks, but you don’t have a reference of your looks level at the same time like you would have in the modern times. I don’t know if this makes sense, but it sounds like it would be way less stressful, and hypergamy would lessen, because women would also be unable to self-reference their own looks when judging yours.

subsaharans cant recognize themselves in a mirror until they are 5 years old
meanwhile white kids can do it at 1½ years old

thats why subsaharans are always so blissful they have no introspection or self awareness they are just animals doing animal things in a low sentient way

I don’t think self-awareness is a problem. It’s more that when you are brought up in a society that puts so much importance on looks and highlights your inadequacies, combined with having mirrors, creates a recipe for a loop of mental ilness. The mirror is an enabler of this.

I think that societies that are less developed, even with a mirror introduced, are way less susceptible to this missuse of reflections.

The answer for a modern human would be to stop looking at his reflections, but in this society you are constantly bombarded with mirrors and windows. Atleast at home you shouldnt have a mirror.

Cap bruh

I would go further and say that we aren’t supposed to see so many human faces on the screens as we do, especially since they are selected for their beauty as they are on social media.

We should only have to see people in real life. Granted even people IRL mog me a lot. But without mirrors I wouldn’t care.

Except she wouldn’t because you lived intra-tribe, and the only time they would interbreed is when they would invade one another and the husband was killed.

So basically because you got fucking killed for being weak and they would take ur bitch 😂😂

Man shouldn’t be able to see his own face--there’s nothing more sinister. Nature gave him the gift of not being able to see it, and of not being able to stare into his own eyes. Only in the water of rivers and ponds could he look at his face. And the very posture he had to assume was symbolic. He had to bend over, stoop down, to commit the ignominy of beholding himself. The inventor of the mirror poisoned the human heart.

Yes, not because she saw the hunter gatherers face. It wasn’t her decision. So it’s not hypergamy.

Which one?

At some point he mentions mirrors being demonic, not religiously but as of going against our nature and mental health, though it has been a topic he's talked about before

Haven't analyzed it throughly, but it may have truth to it, i mean it obviously can be detrimental for Cluster C personality disorders, and for Narcissistic people as well.

I think it's detrimental for everyone, just way more for some. Thanks for the link.

Could you elaborate? i haven't formed an opinion on the topic yet but it seems worth looking into with a deeper view

The real issue is we have access to all beautiful people in the world through the internet. In a natural environment you wouldn't interact with people outside your community, hence lower standards by comparison

I think that having a mirror opens up the posibility to be insecure about your looks. Now, one could argue that it would be good to be insecure, because you could then fix your look. But I think what happens way more often is people maybe fixing a bit of themselves, but still being stuck in this "never enough" loop. Especially if you need hardmaxes, like me.

But this community is obviously biased towards this, so maybe normal people don't give af about their reflections as much. Idk.
