Well, you need to be more present in the moment, do some mindful meditation, when you are with people put your attention on them, don't get lost in your head.

i can relate. i often dont listen to what people say as i stare at an irrelevant point in front of me and mope around in my own thoughts. unfortunately my internal state is as real and engaging as the exterior world. ive nearly written my second book but im afraid to submit it for fear of rejection given its contentious subject matter/s.
