i would obviously get smacked against actually good players/way taller people but i can still shoot and layup at this height.

it is indeed brutal, 5'9 is a legit falio, its not so much the actual height but rather the social stigma behind the height starting with a "5". if you have good proportions in certain countries (like UK) its doable and airmax shoes etc but its still short tbh. 5'9 to 5'11 is a world's difference.
