it can be something as simple as asking them to tell the prof you won't be in or not speaking about something touchy in front of someone else. maybe they don't do it because in their head they're somehow perceiving it as being played or they're trying to be annoying in a grade school way. if you're friends with someone and something doesn't take any effort on your part and you don't do it then please fucking grow up.
