Perception of other peoples height around you

I just noticed this yesterday when I was at the gym.
I saw some men around me and they all appeared as tall as I am or even taller to me when I was looking at them.
But then I looked in the big gym mirror and could see us in a 3rd view perspective and saw that I heightmogged all of them slightly and one was the same height as I am.
But why is that? Does somebody here has an explanation for it?

You were closer to the mirror then they were

You look from your eyes not and the top of your head and it can be a big diffrence
