Isotretinoin/accutane-
Accutane is a powerful oral retinoid derived from vitamin A and is considered of the most effective treatments for severe, cystic, or stubborn acne.
It works by shrinking oil glands to reduce sebum production by ~80-90% , normalising skin cell turnover to prevent clogged pores, reduces cutibacterium acnes bacteria and calminh inflammation. A 4-6 month course clears patients skin or mostly clears it.
Dosing: common doses are 10-80mg
Tretinoin-
Tretinoin is a prescription grade retinoid cream or gel derived from vitamin A. Its one of the most effective and well-studied ingredients for both acne, skin texture and anti-aging.
It works by speeding up skin cell turnover which helps unclog pores, reduces blackheads and whiteheads, fades dark spots, and stimulates collagen production for smoother, firmer skin. Many people consider it a must for a good skincare routine.
Dosing: comes in different strengths (0.025%-0.1%) would recommend starting low EOD then going up in strength
