Brutal af. Hope you had your photos and shit backed up to a PC or external drive beforehand. I lost tons of photos when an old phone died, and lesson learned. Ever since then I back up all the stuff on the new phone to my 2tb external drive and update the photo backup folder at least once a week

I get it because that happened to me. Losing years of your photos sucks. I lost a ton of good pics of women I had saved and also lost a lot of pics of car related stuff I've done over the years and family pics which really sucks because many of the family members are dead now. That moment you realize the device is toast and all your shit is gone feels so soul crushing and defeating, and after having that happen I ain't letting that happen again. I have a ssd 2tb drive and an hdd 2tb drive, and all the stuff that's important to me I save to both of them, so if the phone or pc dies, all the files are on the drives, and somehow even if the original device AND one drive fails, I have the other one as an extra safety net

Yeah good luck. As long as you have a pc that works, and a phone that works right and will file transfer, just get an external drive to backup stuff in if the pc doesn't have enough storage. I got my 2tb HDD for around $80 at best buy, and my 2tb SSD for around $175 iirc. HDDs are usually slower, and they are bigger and more fragile, but a lot cheaper per gigabyte. So as long as you're gonna be careful with it and just are using it as a backup HDD is probably your best bet if you're not looking to spend much
