He probably didn't feel comfortable talking to his parents because they were judgmental and cruel. Which would be fine if he wasn't so emotionally weak, which could have been fixed with proper nutrition, strict bed time, and the parents enrolling him in sports especially combat sports like martial arts and mixed martial arts. Parents should have encouraged him to make friends with his team mates also.

The parents failed this kid badly.
