Plastic retainer or braces?

i am 17 and my dentist thinks that i should either get a plastic retainer or braces for my teeth. which one should i choose? there is also an option of only getting braces for the top teeth and retainer for lower. i dont really want to get braces but i heard they were good for facial development, is this true?

No one here is gonna know bro. I had clear invisaline and Jewish orthos nearly left my teeth worst but I think that was their fault not the method of treatment

why would you put a plastic retainer on your crooked teeth is it not invisalign?
If so both option are good for fixing your smile.

my teeth arent exactly crooked, ive had braces for a year before, but its just that 1 of my 2 front teeth is a little ahead of the other
