You can track a society's upward or downward momentum based on which philosopher is ascendant: Aristotle or Plato. When Aristotle is regarded as 'The Philosopher', reason and logic rules. When Plato is, illogical idealism rules. When Arabs had their golden age, they revered Aristotle. When Whites began the renaissance and started their climb to the top, they revered Aristotle. Now in our irrational age of liberalism, Aristotle is dumped upon while Plato is revered. Abrahaism is directly linked to Platonism: dark ages of Christianity, radical Islam are of Platonic influence.
