I haven't played any video games for over 2 years now, back then stopped because I saw it as a waste of time so I cut it out completely.
I'm starting to think that if you limit the time(e.g. 1x/week 2h) it could actually be beneficial:
- competition in games can give testosterone/hormone boost
- socialising with friends
- venting your emotions
- good distraction from blackpill
- overall good vibes(usually)

As a sub 6 male you can't really experience the same adventures/Dopamine kicks as with games, so till getting to ~6PSL or even then, it's probably a good cope and conducive for overall happiness/health in moderation

Games are a cope, but there's always something better you can do.

Moderation is the key, if you worked out, took care of your looks and studied that day, one or two hours of playing video games won't hurt.

It is a looksmin unless you can become a pro and make a lot of money with it, but then you are probably gifted and probably can do more money somewhere else. So either become millionaire by playing videogames or don't even touch them, most women find them disgusting.

Video games are fine as a source of entertainment, like listening to music or watching movies and tv shows. They don't bring value to your life but they give great short term pleasure which can make you happy in the moment. So they're fine if you're being productive and use time limits. Whether they are a waste of time or not really depends on your goals. Like if you dream to become a good guitarist or pianist in the next 5 years, then you better focus on that instead, if you want to learn a new language, you better do that, if you want to get muscular, you better put that in top priority. As long as you have your goals and prorities set accordingly, you will never feel regretful or disappointed that you spent time having fun.

In my case, I want to get really good at guitar so I will have to practice for at least around 21-27 hours per week. And I want to become very strong and muscular so I have to invest around 9 hours per week, and I also do kyokushin karate at the same time around 4 times per week and that takes another 6 hours from my time. I also have to study for college, and that takes maybe around 10-15 hours per week but only because I have a very light semester. With all my hobbies and my college classes, my schedule is quite full, but when I have some time left, I can use it to have fun. If you view it this way, you can play video games while still having a productive life. It's all about having a balanced life, that's how you become more fulfilled and go from doomer to bloomer.

That's exactly how I'm planning my life in general too. 1 week has 168 hours and if you subtract all the habits that you need to do(obligations) and want to do(self-improvement) you usually still have some time left for short-term pleasure stuff which you need for a balanced life overall

Also the sport copers aren’t taking soreness and recovery time into account, you can do sport with a bit of gaming in the downtime of sports

Yeah it's kind of a redpill meme that you shouldn't play video games because it's a time waste and rather read books instead, but actually everything in moderation mogs

yes but im talking about the people who seem to think not playing video games will make them nt or chad and jfl at it being time wasting , the biggest slayer i have known since high school plays a shit ton of video games and usually play till hes like top 1% in the game csgo , league etc and he still manages to have ''time'' to slay jfl. Why would someone not do something they like just because he could technically benefit from socialising , jfl at living like a slave to other peoples dreams

exactly , some people here deprave themselves of all fun to fit in with normies. Only for them to never fit in because if you have to set up plans to be able to be normal its over

Understand what you mean, but with that mindset you will get caught up in instant-gratification activities instead of making long-term progress

Video games can be useful but overdone it'll take away from useful things.
Done right and it's a form of NTmaxxing.

Happiness and less suffering tbh, it's the root cause for everything humans do
Video games will add happiness to your life, so you can play them. But of course not all the time.

This obsession with optimizing your time borders on psychosis. Do you have free time and enjoy playing videogames? If so, play them. If not, don't. Not everything you do has to be "beneficial." It is ok to have leisure time/activities.

It's analyzing, not obsession. Better to analyze 1 hour whether it is worth it playing video games or not than just mindlessly playing them for years multiple hours daily and then realizing how you wasted major time of your life away. Read the whole thread bro

Well I stopped just because I thought watching movies and rotting on internet was more interesting than trying to get the best rank at some shitty battle royale.

+ carpal tunnel syndrome, back pain etc for playing 16h a day for months.

So y, I stay away from that shit.

Did read the thread. What you're saying is exactly my point. Analyzing, obsessing, whatever you want to call it - when you're judging your leisure activities by the testosterone boost you can get from them you've fucked up. This focus on efficiency will grind all the pleasure and enjoyment out of your life. I repeat: it is ok to waste time. It is ok to do things you enjoy even if it isn't the most optimal thing to do. If you like playing video games and you're not neglecting your responsibilities by playing them, it is perfectly acceptable to spend your free time on them without having to rationalize your way into thinking it's actually beneficial to do so.

It also depends a lot on what games you play. Some games just rot your brain and give 0 benefits, only waste of life.

If you’re chad getting head while playing 2k then it’s worth it

If you’re playing Minecraft trying to teach some stupid Jew how to build classical architecture, like me, then it’s a complete waste of time.

During lockdown when all was shut it felt ok to play them, as there was literally nothing else to do apart from watching shit or browsing phone. I guess some could say you can still be productive in such situations like exercise at home or start online business. I'd take work smart not hard approach though
