Well it’s a little tricky of a situation. You’re dealing with a guy who is clearly unhinged walking around with a knife. What if you see him go near a group of people while holding the knife? He’s not directly threatening you but this guy who clearly doesn’t give a fuck is holding a knife and could harm others. It would be totally right to shoot him if you believe he’s actively a threat to the public.

On top of that if he went into the gas station it’s a confined area where a knife would be a very good weapon. No easy way to just run away because it’s a small store. The guy clearly wasn’t going in there to buy some chips or get gas gas.
