There is a section on the MCAT called critical analysis and reading skills, known as CARS. CARS is SAT R/W on steroids.
If I wanna get into med school I gotta score high on the MCAT. If I wanna score high on the MCAT I gotta score high on CARS. If I wanna score high on CARS I gotta be sum type of literary genius and the goat of pattern recognition and on the fly analysis.
I will possibly be taking the MCAT as early as the summer after my sophomore year of uni. This is when I’ll have all my prereqs done.
Vote if I should start doing 1 CARS passage a day. This should only take me 25mins. 10mins on avg for a passage + questions and 15 minutes for a detailed review of the passage. This would theoretically make me really good at CARS and help me score high on the MCAT.
I think the ROI is worth it. Do you?
Attached is MCAT/GPA/AcceptanceRate correlation table. CARS is 25% of the MCAT. Note that acceptance rate is for ONE med school. I don't wanna be stuck in north dakota med school or whatever because it's the only place I got in. Typically people get into very few medical schools and apply very broadly, unlike college applications.
