Alcohol + l-theanine or phenibut + l-theanine (taken together).

Alcohol/phenibut are strong GABA agonists and l-theanine, to my surprise, blocks glutamate receptors to some extent (its chemical structure is similar to glutamate), which means it would enhance alcohol/phenibut's effects.

Too much booze on l-theanine can make you black out apparently. Not a surprise, as the effects of alcohol are enhanced by theanine.
It would likely be different with phenibut which is a GABA-B receptor agonist (alcohol primarily acts on the GABA-A receptor, which is why it causes drowsiness, sedation and other side effects phenibut does not cause).

Phenibut causes a hell of a lot of drowsiness, sedation and other side effects.

All of those things cause tolerance meaning that you will have to incrase the dose to get the desrired effect. They also cause bad withdrawal, being very hard to quit.
And you should never mix phenibut and alcohol, never.

Did you even read? Theanine blocks glutamate receptors (glutamate is the opposing neurotransmitter of GABA).

My approach is intended to both stimulate the GABAergic system AND dampen the glutamate system, thus shifting neurotransmitter balance more towards GABA.
I think it might be more effective than only acting on GABA receptors and ignoring the rest.

Phenibut causes a hell of a lot of drowsiness, sedation and other side effects.
But it doesn't make you as uncontrolled as alcohol (drunk/unable to drive, slurred speech etc.), does it? One could also swap phenibut for another GABA agonist such as gabapentin.

Anyway, what do you think about theanine in the stack?

this isn't any type of long term benefit to your neurotransmitters
It could be. If long-term theanine supplementation leads to downregulation of glutamate receptors over time (similar to how chronic alcohol abuse leads to downregulation of GABA receptors), it might help rebalance someone's brain chemistry if he has an overactive glutamate and underactive GABAergic system (e.g. tourette's, OCD, epilepsy etc.).

It would also help decrease the amount of GABA mimetics required to calm you and maybe reduce the risk of developing dependance/withdrawals, as opposed to using GABA agonists alone.

I think that l-theanine is underrated. It definitely has a positive effect on me. I haven't combined it with GABA agonists yet but I will try and report back.

Edit: took 200 mg l-theanine and a few Doppelkorn shots.

Does in high doses yep. Just as bad as alcohol. Like if you OD on Phenibut you'll black out and not return to normal for 3-6 days and you will be a 0inhib weirdo post overdose who just literally cant feel inhibition. It's dangerous. Phenibut hangover is like alcohols times 500000x.

I've used gabapentin a lot and take pregabalin which is like gabapentin but about 5-6 times as strong mg/mg. There's a thing called the "stagger method" where you take smallish doses of gabapentin over the course of several hours and it makes it insanely effective. There's a thread on bluelight about it I think. Gabapentin and pregabalin are both GABA-A agonists and pretty interesting drugs but they're not to be taken lightly either.

jfl that does nothing at all

Using a glutamate agonist/blocker (such as theanine) along with GABA agonists still sounds more reasonable/safer to me than only frying the GABA receptors.

I must say that I feel the alcohol more after a few shots of booze now after taking the theanine.

Oh missed that part. Interesting although whenever you were to come off theses substances you would be insanely depressed.
