well, im not very good looking even after my ascension, but i ascended from ltn to mtn via orthodontics + tret, and my qol has improved a lot. people have reacted to my face looking different, and strangers treat me better, i've also noticed that in arguments, people dont call me ugly anymore and my opinion is taken more seriously. it's a noticeable difference

exactly, have u ever read the thread? idea basically goes that if you tell everyone how hard you worked to ascend, it becomes meaningless because all people care about is carelessness, like you were born this way. Clav proved this correct, everyone made fun of him for publicly posting his journey. he is objectively attractive, and yet foids find tryharding so unattractive that they would rate him ltn.
