Rachmaninoff is my second favorite, after Liszt the legend ofc. His works are great, but very hard ngl.
You should play according to your level...

This helps a lot. Right now, I am leaning Franz Liszt's Transcendental Etude no. 9 'Ricordanza'. I'm almost finished with the cadenza's (the hard parts). The piece I am learning is an 8/9... but i am able to learn it slowly because I have already improved on the technique to play the hard trills, the arpeggios and fast scales. I can play all level 6 pieces. 7 is somewhere where i am developing atm.
I would suggest that you start with something like the easy Chopin Nocturnes or List's consolations. Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, most of Liszt, Beethoven and Schumann are generally grade 7+.

Start practicing scales and arpeggios. Practice with a metronome and slowly learn to increase speed.

Stick to one piece at a time and learn it fully. It is hard tbh, but beneficial. I can play the beginning left hand part of Rachmaninoff's Moment's musicaux op 16 no 4... i just got too excited that's why i gave it a go. I am not learning the full piece however now. I will later on though.
