Lots of times the eyes alone aren't enough, context like the zygo width is necessary to completely measure the eye area

Also you mentioned a dark purple hue indicates alright infraorbitals but lack of fat? What is your thought process exactly on that?

Could be both but purple black skin is usually a sign of thin skin and fat reduction in the area
