I actually have no idea what most Asians look like. Your dad had masseter hypertrophy though. His jaw looked way too wide and it wasn't actual bone it's the masseter muscle overdeveloped.

How can you tell when it's masseter muscle overdeveloped or if it's bone?

Doesn't look the same at all. It's all bloated, round, and WIDER than the zygos. If it's bone it looks completely different.
