There was a very strong cult of personality for our dictator - Ceausescu, his portrait was everywhere, he was always on tv, radio, in books, magazines, newspapers, kids would learn in school all about him and his accomplishments, there were huge parades and shows where people sang and said poems to praise him, etc., it was very much like in North Korea.
