Firstly, success in top industries, and especially STEM is heavily linked with general intelligence. A poorcel born into a shithole but with top tier intelligence and work ethnic can almost certainly escape poverty. They might not do as well as their rich equals, but they’ll escape it. Correlation is generally between 0.6-0.8 for this,

Secondly, success in industries less linked with g such as trades still requires you to fit a certain psychological framework. That’s your ability to work hard, work well with people, have ambition ect.

People don’t realize the percentage of people that end up in a different economic state than their ancestors is really rare. Even moving up a quintile and staying there is so rare

I wouldn’t say it’s extremely rare but most of the time yes.

Sometimes there’s some luck involved. Maybe a guy with average or poor cognition sets up a very good trades business. Maybe someone just got very lucky with cognitive genes from their ancestors.

One exception seems to be certain type of immigrants like East Asians. Their parents could be pretty poor but they’ll manage to get into the best careers

ofc the smartest will, the average, who would have been successful had they been born in a chicago suburb, will still be stuck

a large part of it is their vision in lyfe. They have No examples to look toward, no person who had a life worth living that they could emulate. they will follow the same thing everyone else around them did.

which is why environment is a major factor. a lower iq nigga from an affluent can still live an accomplished life because he is informed by others around him on what to do and what to avoid. the possible pathways are still visible to him.

but you are right, some individuals are stuck in a rut and no program can help them

they are at the bottom of a hierarchy

The vision part and opportunities is huge. Here in London at least, you have so many programmes to help get poor people into STEM degrees, top unis, good companies ect. You don’t really have that in the midlands for example.

Being able to live in a huge city with opportunities is an underrated aspect even if I don’t like city life.

I remember Scooby ( the oldcel fitness influencer) said that those in poor states should join the military as engineers or other professionals since they’ll pay for college and give good benefits. What do you think ? I’d imagine it’s pretty competitive though

yea being poor in a city is a lot better than country side

military routes are available but not the most glamorous

not to be mention a lot of these people, who grow up around other slobs who have done nothing with their lives, find it hard to be disciplined.

+ a lot of these places do not value education what so ever so careers like engineers and adjacent like completely not of the realm of possibility

it is a viable path for some but joining the military is a tall ask for most people and rightfully, a lot of them don't want to waste 4 years of their lives in the military just for some benefits. they think they can do better living in their local down, working in a junkyard

and like you mentioned there are also constraints on how many people can join as well.
